I am back...sort of.

I am in the process of moving and I have limited Internet access. And limited time as well.
I have a lot of unpacking and sorting, etc to do while I'm not working.

I have been following most of my regular haunts when I can, but posting...now that I have it working again will resume in the not too distant future. I hope.

So....some news since I had that long running isssue with blogger.

Still working for the sdame organization, but I've moved 3 times in the last year. I'm now working logistics. I am enjoying it although the pay is much less than when I was a tech.

Hence the move.

This weekend is the annual turkey shoot and I'll be going to that. $5 per event, 3 events proceeds go to the VFW. I haven't got much rangetime in the last year so i don't know if I'll be walking out of there with a turkey or not, but for $15 that goes to VFW, I don't much care. It'll be nice to hang out with some gunny folks for a change.

December 17th is our local Appleseed shoot. Myself and few friends will be attending it.
I will likely have pictures to post from that. I'm really looking forward to that shoot.

On the political front...I'm pretty well disgusted with it all. I pay attention, but it just pisses me off. We just need to vote all the bums out. I doubt that will happen as the sheeple in this country have a habit of forgetting the sins of the past and believing in the rhetoric of the now.

On the "distraction from real life front", The D&D campaign I've been playing is now a year old and we're still playing. That's quite the accomplishment. And I will be starting a Conan RPG campaign shortly. I am quite excited about that. I've been the DM/GM/Storyteller for decades and although it's nice to just play once in a while, it's been a few years since I was able to find a group to run anything for. So a few of my compadres are up for a new setting and Conan kicks ass. So I am hopeful this will be a fun and exciting change from standard fantasy for us.

I was going to disable my WoW account, but just when I thought I was done, they announced the addition of Panderia and the Pandaren asd a new playable race. My first thought was..."Is this a joke?" But no, it's not April 1st, and they're dead serious. I've only been wanting to play a pandaren for about 6 years now and they FINALLY do it, just when I'm about to throw in the towel...oh well. What's $15 bucks a month? really.

And...just when I've given up on having any sort of meaningful relationship with a woman, wouldn't you know, one just pops into my life out of the nether and she's the most wonderful woman ever! Yeah...I'm a happy guy ;)

So, in the meantime brothers and sisters...keep your powder dry and Die with your boots on!

Cpl. Brian Downard

Brian Downard was 23 years old, a father, a country music fan, and a corporal of Marines. He joined the Marine Corps in July of 2005, and would do two deployments to two different scenic locales. The first was to Iraq, where he served from November of ’06 to April of the following year. While in Iraq, Brian suffered a concussion from an IED strike while patrolling. Undeterred, Brian stayed in the Marines and deployed to Burma in 2008 when Marines and sailors with the Essex Amphibious Readiness Group provided humanitarian assistance operations to aid the cyclone-stricken country. He would eventually leave the service just last July, after four honorable years of service.

One month after separation, he discovered that he had testicular cancer, and a very aggressive strain at that. The cancer spread quickly to his muscles and fatty tissues, and Brian suffered so greatly with the pain that they put him on morphine. He was released from the VA to enjoy his last days with the love from his mom and his 7-year-old son Jesse.

Well, I'm back in sunny AZ. I haven't had the time to blog or even peruse my normal reads for a while.

I'm busy looking for a job.

Y'see I am part of the 10% across the board defense spending cuts. Me and over half my division. We found out last Friday. I found out while I was waiting in the Billings airport to fly home. Not the best way to end my vacation, but at least I got to get away and enjoy myself for a week.

My last day with EPG is Thursday, September 30th. that's tomorrow.

So, when I have the time and ambition I'll be doing some posts about my vacation. In the meantime, say prayer and wish me luck.

I am a survivor and I've been down before. It just may be a bit rougher since I have more to lose now than I did in the past.

Update from Big Sky Country

I have way too many pictures to think of posting them all here.

But Day 1 was 39 degrees and with fog as thick as pea soup...so nothing from day 1.

We stayed in Red Lodge on the first day and Day 2 we headed towards Yellowstone.

Welcome to Yellowstone!

We saw some mountain goats on the way in, but they only look like little white specks on my camera...go figure.

We saw some buffalo...no ALOT of buffalo on the way in.

This is only the first of several herds we saw on our way to Mammoth Springs.

Pretty amazing. There are no pictures that could possibly do this place justice. This is definitely God's Country.

I should have more time this week to post some pics since I'm now on the Reservation and I don't think we're going to do a whole lot more driving around. But today is errand day.

And it's time for Breakfast!

Gonna spend some quality time with the parents. Most of the time I'll be in Southeast Montana, Crow Agency. Folks have a cabin there. And although there's no cell service...which suits me just fine, there is really good internet...go figure...hahaha!

So, y'all hold down the fort for me while I'm "gone". I will likely still indulge myself with a a little interwebz surfing while I'm there, gonna take lotsa pictures too...

AZ CD8

Well, despite the fact McCain won the senate primary, at least my man won the republican primary for CD8. Jesse Kelly.

I don't think I need to go into Jesse's background, I think anyone that reads this blog knows who he is. For those of you who don't know his Democrat opponent, she is one Gabrielle "Gabby" Giffords.

Giffords went blitzkrieg on Jesse pretty much immediately after the primaries. Standard dirty truth twisting TV commercials that really hammered on the guy. Of course everything in those commercials was twisted to reflect poorly on him. Privatizing Social Security? I dunno, somehow the leftists think that's a bad thing, and rather than accept the fact that unless something like this happens, folks my age who've paid into the damn thing our whole lives won't have anything to draw on by the time we retire. Somehow it's ok to ignore us and target the already retired folks sensibilites thinking they're a bunch of ignorant rubes.

Jesse has fired back rather well, so hopefully those initial ads won't be too damaging.

I learned today that the Democrats are pulling national support for a few of the campaigns they think are strong enough that they don't need to get involved in, AZ CD8 happens to be one of them. Good for us, naive of them. So that's a bit of good news for us.

Also, my colleague pointed out to me recently that the youtube videos of Gabby's ads have all ratings and comments turned off...LOL. However, Jesse's are active so everyone can see what the people think of him. I think the fact her campaign is afraid to turn on comments and ratings of her videos just goes to show how "strong" her standing really is here.

She played the moderate "blue-dog" here for a few years and we tolerated her, mainly because she was pro-2nd amendment at least. And the wife of a veteran.

Well, she blew it big time. She held a town hall here in SV that I attended about the Health Care bill. She basically tried (unsuccessfully) to convince us it was ok, danced around the facts. The pro-healthcare bill folks were very organized and all had pre-printed signs and t-shirts and they all sat together in large groups which they made a point to occupy certain key areas of the auditorium. Astro-turf by any other name. Well, after the majority of us pretty much told her emphatically NO. She turns around and bad mouths us at a Biden fund-raiser in DE. We all now know what she thinks of her constituents.

And she voted for it.

She's done.

Now Jesse, when we elect you to represent us in November, don't let us down because we WILL be watching you. I am confident he'll do his best. But every politician has been warned. We've seen alot of upsets and if they don't take heed, we'll kill their careers as well.

Pvt. Daren A. Smith was born in Butte, Montana and lived there until he reached middle school, when he moved to Helena. He graduated from Helena High School in 2006 and completed a semester at the University of Montana-Helena College of Technology. He joined the United States Army in March of 2007 and was deployed to Iraq on November of that year.

Pvt. Daren A. Smith died on December 13, 2007 of non-combat related injuries. His funeral was held on a cold 20-degree Winter's day but that didn't stop hundreds of mourners from his hometown lining the streets to honor him.

"He was the kind of guy who would do anything for you," said a friend of Pvt. Smith. "He was just a great guy."

Pvt. Barney F. Hajiro
93 years old from Waipahu, Hawaii
442nd Regimental Combat Team

On September 16 Mr. Hajiro will turn 94 years old. His family immigrated from Japan during WWI and he had to drop out of school and work to help support his family. After Pearl Harbor was attacked he was drafted in the United States Army. In March 1943, he volunteered to join the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, composed of Nisei (second-generation Japanese Americans) like himself. He was shipped to Europe in 1944 first to Italy then to France where, over ten days in October, Pvt. Hajiro repeatedly distinguished himself in battle by exposing himself to enemy fire while assisting an allied attack. On October 29, 1944 Pvt. Hajiro single-handedly destroyed two German machine gun emplacements before being shot in the shoulder and wrist partially paralyzing his left arm. For his actions he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. In 1948 he was awarded the Military Medal by the British government, in 2000 was was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Bill Clinton and in 2004 he was awarded the Légion d'honneur by France. Barney F. Hajiro is the oldest living Medal Of Honor recipient.

For The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Private Barney F. Hajiro, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action above and beyond the call of duty while serving with Company I, 3d Battalion, 442d Regimental Combat Team, attached to the 36th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy on 19, 22, and 29 October 1944, in the vicinity of Bruyeres and Biffontaine, eastern France. Private Hajiro, while acting as a sentry on top of an embankment on 19 October 1944, in the vicinity of Bruyeres, France, rendered assistance to allied troops attacking a house 200 yards away by exposing himself to enemy fire and directing fire at an enemy strong point. He assisted the unit on his right by firing his automatic rifle and killing or wounding two enemy snipers. On 22 October 1944, he and one comrade took up an outpost security position about 50 yards to the right front of their platoon, concealed themselves, and ambushed an 18-man, heavily armed, enemy patrol, killing two, wounding one, and taking the remainder as prisoners. On 29 October 1944, in a wooded area in the vicinity of Biffontaine, France, Private Hajiro initiated an attack up the slope of a hill referred to as "Suicide Hill" by running forward approximately 100 yards under fire. He then advanced ahead of his comrades about ten yards, drawing fire and spotting camouflaged machine gun nests. He fearlessly met fire with fire and single-handedly destroyed two machine gun nests and killed two enemy snipers. As a result of Private Hajiro's heroic actions, the attack was successful. Private Hajiro's extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon him, his unit, and the United States Army.

AZ primaries...

Y'know, I'm pretty disappointed with Arizonans this year.
The focus has been on McCain and Hayworth.

What about Deakin?

Y'know, if John McCain was a real conservative, he'd throw his weight behind Deakin. Hayworth? jeez...seriously?

He's a snake oil salesman. And the AZ Tea Party has endorsed him. Doesn't give me a whole lot of hope for that fledgling organization. Hayworth is worthless, and is most certainly NOT the conservative he's claiming to be. The lies and deception coming form the Hayworth campaign is frought with corruption.

McCain, he's not done much except attack Hayworth. Anyone that has been paying any attention would notice this. And anyone that actually paid attention to the republican debate wouold see that Deakin had a focused and honest message and the other two yayhoos did nothing but sli9ng mud at each other.

I keep hearing about the anti-incumbent message and "vote them all out", yet we're gonna maybe bring back a freakin charlatan in place of McCain because the Tea partiers can't see past the last couple of years? Hayworth scammed people out of millions of dollars, give or take a few, while he was an elected official in the past...have they all forgot this?

Apparently.

Well, I'm voting for Deakin, and I hope the rest of you in AZ do too, if I even have any readers in AZ...LOL.
Seems the only readers I actually know I have are Rev. Paul in AK, Brigid somewhere in the midwest and Kaveman...somewhere north and west of me...I think.

Anywho, If you all really want to see less gov't in our future, thinka bit before you vote. Do you're damn duty as a citizen and research the candidates. Vote for the candidate that represents your values.

We can try and turn the country around at the ballot box, because if we don't....the cartridge box it is, and I don't think most of us really want it to come to that...

Well, I've been pointedly remiss in keeping up with my blog, mostly due to being ridiculously busy, but also because I'm just weary....

Should we let them build it? Well, constitutionally, we really don't have much choice.

Should they build it? Emphatically no.

SO the leftists in this country are all about the religious freedom thing, I think mainly because they know it pisses off the republicans to let a muslim group go ahead and build something that pisse sus off. And the fact that they have no FUCKING clue what this "community center" is really all about.

First off, calling this thing the "Cordoba Initiative" is pretty much saying, yeah we blew up your buildings and killed a buncjh of you filthy infidels and we're gonna build an islamic shrine to commemorate it.

For those of you ignorant fucks out there, the cordoba Mosque in Spain, was the Moors basically enshrining their victory over the infidels (Christians). And it basically remodeled an existing structure (cathedral) at Cordoba, Spain and made it into a Mosque.

Somehow that little tidbit made it past the freaking dunbed down leftist educated folks in this country.

I've been watching this for a bit and I've been reading the opinions of leftists and "the right wing conspiracy" here and although I shouldn't be surprised, I am.

Folks, these assholes have been at war with us since the founding of this country. Don't believe me? Just read the lyrics of the Marine Corps song. And no You're gonna have to works for that one if you don't already know it.

The Barbary Pirates...hmmm... alot like the somalian pirates today, except we actually took the battle to them and annihilated them. But that was when this country had a set of nuts. Something we are sorely lacking today. Let me qualify that; something our GOV'T is sorely lacking in today.

These hoodlums will not rest until they have a fucking global caliphate. We've already seen instances where sharia law is creeping into our legal system on local levels. We've seen how they will use our own tolerance and laws against us to achieve their goals. And the fucking leftists are playing the useful idiots. Yeah and they really are idiots because they'll be the first to get rounded up and executed. How ironic is the organization, Queers for Palestine? boggles the mind. really.

So my opinion is this.

The construction worker guy in NYC, yeah he's going around and basically the workers in the area, won't do it. so if they're gonna build it, they're gonna have to import labot to make it happen.

I don't think about 9/11 on a daily basis anymore, and I'm sure alot of us don't. But let me tell you something right now. I was born in NY state, lived in NY, PA and NJ during my youth and college years, went to NYC many, many, many times. I have been to the top of the former world trade center, I've flown into Newark many times and the skyline without the twin towers...

Well, let's just say, the first time I realized how much it hurt me was flying into newark in September of '03...2 years after. The first time I'd been home in 3 years. I baled my eyes out, And I'm fighting back the tears as write this.

This initiateive of theirs is only going to cause more violence. I knowthat if I lived there, I would make sure on a daily basis that they know they're not welcome.

It's the most base form of rudeness and indecency they could come up with. And it is likely they will get to build this travesty.

We need to recognize Islam for what it really is. It's not just a religion, and until we figure that out as a people,they will continue to use our own values and generosity against us.

On principle, sure, let 'em build it cause they went through the proper legal channels to do so, but this is cultural jihad on the American people...on western civilization itself. Just remeber that. And while you're at it, you ought to endorse the gay bar being planned right next door that will cater to homosexual muslims. Yeah. good one.

I'm not religious. I am not a "Christian" or a catholic or a Jew or any other weird ass religion. I just have a real problem with a violent extremist expansionist religion that isn't that really masquerades as one.

It's time for public outcry, it's time for guerilla tactics. It's time to beat them at their own game.

Threatened by pirates form Mexico?

I've posted the pictures of the human smugglers trashed camps before.
And I'm sure most of you know the name Bob Krentz by now. The Rancher here in AZ that was murdered by one of the cartel's hitmen for interfering in their drug business...that crossed his property.

The fokls down here that support this new Law aren't a bunch of racist inbreds. If you really think you know what goes on down here, try coming down and staying here. Better yet go traverse the border areas that aren't populated by much more than cattle and scrub and see how beautiful the Sonoran desert is. Don't be surprised if you end up being shot at by those pesky ranchers...errr...I mean drug runners. Y'see. Another thing you folks up north don't get is that Arizonans aren't afraid. We're pissed. We can't protect our property without getting a lawsuit by the ACLU for threatening tresspassers who just happen to be Mexicans. We can't trust the Feds to secure our border. So we, our State legislature, has passed alot of good laws that help us protect ourselves and give our local police the authority to do the job the Feds can't. And I'm not knocking the Border patrol either. they do a damned good job when they're allowed to.

You can agree or not. But anyone criticizing this as a racist or criminally discriminating law is basically calling every cop here that ISN'T a Fed a racist bastard. yep. Just keep that in mind. The law was amended to clarify for the idjits out there that racial profiling was prohibited. yep, go read the damn bill yourself if you don't believe me.

Oh and That F*&%$N hypocrite Calderon can go back to Mexico and pound sand. They have the same damn laws and enforce them the same way in southern Mexico. Only their not nearly as nice to the illegals they catch.

Before you go spouting off, maybe you should get informed and read the law...oh, and LA has the same damn law too.

Basically all the folks out there protesting this law are saying that all cops are racist (except the Feds of course) and that the 10th amendment is optional.

Sucks.

We've had non-stop rain for 2 days, not cold enough for snow, just cold enough to make it freakin' miserable. With wind gusts up to 85mph overnight and pouring down rain...makes for really sucky weather.

I live out in the sticks, so to speak and the county hasn't done any maintenance on the road I live on since I moved out there 6 years ago.

Now during monsoon season, usually July- August we get alot of rain, but I have never seen the accumulation of water like I have over the last couple of days. There's mini lakes where there normally isn't even a puddle. in fact our usual lake sized water holes in the road are even more massive than usual. I almost didn't make it out to work this morning...that with a 4-wheel drive pickup truck.... Yeah...

So last night the county just west of us, Pima county had a Tornado warning going on...highly unusual here.

And to top it off, looks like we may have the snow line drop to between 3,000 to 4,000 ft. this afternoon. So our snow day will actually be on my day off...grrrrr. A guy can't catch a break.

So, luckily my roof is still intact and looks like we're gonna get snow today sometime.

Maybe I'll be able to have a snowman in my front yard when I get home today...hehehe.

Well, I hope anyways, it would be nice to have some positive aspect to this crappy weather.

Anti-Gun Senator Shoots Intruder

Long time Anti-Gun Advocate State Senator R.C. Soles, 74, shot one of two intruders at his home just outside Tabor City, N.C. About 5 p.m. Sunday, the prosecutor for the politician's home county said.

The victim, Kyle Blackburn, was taken to a South Carolina hospital, but the injuries were not reported to be life-threatening, according to Rex Gore, district attorney for Columbus, Bladen andBrunswick counties..

The State Bureau of Investigation and Columbus County Sheriff's Department are investigating the shooting, Gore said. Soles, who was not arrested,declined to discuss the incident Sunday evening.

"I am not in a position to talk to you," Soles said by telephone. "I'm right in the middle of an investigation."

The Senator, who has made a career of being against gun ownership for the general public, didn't hesitate to defend himself with his own gun when he believed he was in immediate danger and he was the victim.

In typical hypocritical liberal fashion, the "Do As I Say And Not As I Do" Anti-Gun Activist Lawmaker picked up his gun and took action in what apparently was a self-defense shooting. Why hypocritical you may ask? It is because his long legislative record shows that the actions that he took to protect his family, his own response to a dangerous life threatening situation, are actions that he feels ordinary citizens should not have if they were faced with an identical situation.

It has prompted some to ask if the Senator believes his life and personal safety is more valuable than yours or mine.
But, this is to be expected from those who believe they can run our lives, raise our kids, and protect our families better than we can.

So, the honorable Sen. Soles can defend his home...but us knuckledragging rednecks i.e. the unwashed masses aren't responsible enough to...

A small rant

Caution: there is some profanity in this post...you've been warned.

The war never ends it seems. They just won't let it go. They insist in their narrative of reality that tighter gun control laws here will somehow change the outcome of the war in Mexico between the Gov't and the Drug Cartels. Somehow it's the US citizens fault that there is a war going on that the Mexican Gov't can't seem to get a handle on despite it's own draconian gun laws. And so a former Bush Aide is coming out in support of a renewed 'assault weapons' ban. what the hell is an assault weapon anyway? I don't think they know. Actually I KNOW they don't know. If it's black and has a detachable magazine, it's probably an assault weapon to htem...to include a custom ruger 10/22 with a pistol grip, detachable 50 round magazine, polymer stock...yeah looks mean, must be mean huh? except it's a fucking .22. *sigh*

yeah next thing you know they'll be trying to call a knife with an assist for one handed opening a switchblade...oh wait they've already done that huh...or not, I know they wer trying to redefine switchblade so that a whole bunch of millions of knives would suddenly be illegal just by redefining what the item is...convenient huh?

I'm sick and tired of theis bullshit. And I'm sick and tired of being politically correct about every daggum thing. I'm just sooo fucking done. Stick a fucking fork in me.

Unfortunately, I can rant and rave and act like a freaking loon here on this blog, and there are a few folks that actually take a little time out of their day or week or month, depending on the frequency of their visits but I know all I'm doing is preaching to the choir. It's sad really. Maybe I need to go to some lefty sites and start preaching, but I doubt that'll do any good. They've most all of 'em drank the friggin' Kool-Aid already. America, the country whose embodiment is in an ideal, not a geography enshrined in the most awesome document ever devised, that I swore an oath to protect with my lifeblood if necessary has slowly eroded. her edges are frayed, her colors have begun to fade. It depresses me. alot. I don't want to see another violent civil war come to this country, but we're in the beginning stages already. We have in this country two diametrically opposed worldviews that cannot be reconciled. Unfortunately the worldview that the founders had for us is being replaced by a view that has caused the death of millions time and time again and leads to nothing but tyranny.

I hope it does not come to pass. I hope America, the freedom loving half, rise up at the ballot box and elect freedom loving men and women to represent them and change the direction this country has been heading in for decades. It's time to take back the gov't from the despots who would be our masters. For if we do not....the consequences will be dire for all concerned. And that's not something I want to even think about. At least not until I have to....

My rant for the day/week/month...we'll see..hehehe.

I have to say, when I read this at TAH, I was shocked to say the least.
I don't care if you think would should be in Afghanistan or not. This is still a tragic loss of life.
I don't even know if any of the scouts I served with are in 361 Cav. good possibility, but one never knows. All I can say is B troop lived up to the tradition of cavalrymen and stood by their buddies. donating blood in the midst of battle, wounded troopers refusing to be medevaced so they could stay and fight beside their fellow troopers. Brings a tear to my eye and makes me proud of them.

One soldier who made it out wrote that “most people back home dont even know, no one gives a shit”. Well, many of us do. And you can prove it by giving whatever you can. These guys need things like running shoes, and other essentials, as well as some comfort items like iPods and DVD players. The American Legion has kicked in $1000 to start the fund, and your humble blogger will be the first to donate $100. I intend to get these items out by the end of next week. ANY amount you can give, no matter how small will help us prove that we care.

News of Egan’s death came to Pennsauken shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday, Krista Egan, Sgt. Egan's sister-in-law, said. His mother, Irene, was on the telephone when an Army sergeant walked up to the door. "My mother-in-law was talking on the telephone to Mike’s wife, Maria, when he came. Maria had just got the news. The Army sergeant told my mother-in-law it was his first time notifying a family."Sgt. Egan served in the Marine Corps for eight years, was a civilian for a year, then joined the National Guard. As a Marine, he had been previously served in Afghanistan."He was well-liked by everyone," Patrick Egan, Sgt. Egan's brother, said.

Sgt. Michael Egan was killed when an IED detonated near his vehicle while on patrol in Ramadi. Also killed in the attack were Spc. William Evans, 22, of Hallstead, PA, Spc. William Fernandez, 37, of Reading, PA and Lt. Mark Dooley of the Vermont National Guard.

I received this in an email today. Makes you wonder...

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America..." so starts the Pledge of Allegiance. Just now, without thinking about it, most of you finished that sentence with "and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." I know that the words are ingrained in my head as I, like most of you, was required to recite the Pledge of Allegiance each morning in school. At the time, the words weren't that meaningful and it was more of a routine than anything. As I grew older, I realized the true meaning of the words I had been saying for all those years and have sworn my pledge of allegiance to our country with heartfelt pride every since.

The requirement to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in our schools is routinely criticized and legally challenged. The courts have time and again ruled that students do not have to recite the pledge in public schools nor will they be punished for not doing so. On September 14, Fox News reported that various First Amendment advocates are arguing that educators should be compelled to inform children that the decision to recite the Pledge of Allegiance is entirely up to them. Really? Well, I hope these same First Amendment advocates realize that the decision to live in this country is entirely up to them too. Foreign nationals are required to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in order to complete the naturalization process to become U.S Citizens and yet people that are born here are fighting to not have to say it? What is that old saying?
Oh yeah....USA Love It or Leave It.

U.S. moves toward formal cut off of aid to Honduras

I knew it was too good to be true.

The State Department of the US is still recommending the ouster of Zelaya in Honduras to be officially recognized as a military coup. The only reason they have not, and not imposed further sanctions on Honduras, is because of CAFTA of which Honduras is a part. If Honduras is removed from CAFTA, then our gov't, along with seemingly the rest of the world, will isolate the tiny country and impose heavy handed sanctions on them...

Damn socialists.

A group of Gunny-folks decided to show their patriotism by showing up armed. Peaceful of course. But armed. They called the Phoenix PD the night before and arrived with a Phoenix PD Liason, just to cover their butt. The Guy with the AR had a loaded magazine in his back pocket, but the AR was actually not loaded during the event. The group contained 6 people. 5 were packing pistols that were loaded, but the guy with the AR was unloaded. The reason being, they were worried some anti-gunny nitwit might try and grab the rifle from them and get themselves or someone else hurt. Sounds reasonable enough, especially since they were simply making a statement, not intending to go on a damn shooting spree as the media might like you to think.

The internet is abuzz this morning with reports of the man carrying an AR-15 (loaded of course) to an anti-Obama rally in Phoenix, AZ.

Well, initially Iwa sof mixed emotions about the situation and I discussed this with my coworker a bit. I say Kudos to the gentleman who appeared on the news with an AR strapped to his back.

Even in an open-carry state like AZ it's kinda ballsy to attend a political event, especially one in which the president is in attendance.

But he didn't do anything wrong. That's the bottom line. In fact, what the leftists in this country need to understand is that the Healthcare "reform" bill is the last straw. We will not continue to be bullied by those who are there to serve our interests...that being liberty. Safeguarding or legal freedoms. We're done. we don't want anymore nanny-state nonsense. I watched the CNN coverage of this situation and it's obvious that these guys missed the whole point.

Rick Sanchez of CNN asks: "Just because you can do something, does that mean you should?"

Of course this was supposed to be a rhetorical question. One most are familiar with.

Well, I have to respond with this...Under the circumstances, I am quite sure we should.

This is way beyond a debate over Healthcare reform. We have very good reason not to trust the gov't, especially concerning this healthcare initiative, because let's face it folks, this isn't about healthcare reform. It quite simply isn't. If it were, there would have been a more open debate about this to begin with instead of them trying to ram some piece of garbage that only creates more gov't control over us. The people got pissed and made a big enough stink that the congresscritters and TOTUS realized, they were about to step on their pee-pee.

They made a pretense of holding townhalls in their respective districts to hear our grievances and questions...when really all they wanted to do was "sell" us on their plan. They had no intention of listening to us. And they haven't. In fact the sheer arrogance and condescension evidenced by our supposed representitives is appalling. They really honestly believe they know better. That they are somehow priveleged with superior wisdom and intellect than the the rest of us.

The people are pissed. And the damn state media, which is pretty much every major outlet besides FOX...and sometimes even they screw it up too, continues to obfuscate the issue.

You see, since it's healthcare, and who really wants to think there's some poor victim of private insurance that could have been saved if there were safeguards or checks and balances in place to keep an insurance company from dropping a patient with cancer halfway through treatment...resulting in a horrible death? Noone really wants that to happen. But we've already been shown...with evidence that TOTUS and his cronies want a single payer system...ala Gov't run health insurance. yeah...they now they can't get it done right away, but they need to put things in place so we can shift over to the system they want for us. Sorry, I'm not buying the lies they're cooking up now to defend their position.

I believe there needs to be reform yes. some of the stories I'm hearing are criminal. yet they happen. Something needs to give. But not a public insurance option. They've screwed up medicare/medicaid and now they want us to be ok with more gov't control? no thanks, I'd rather die a horrible death than deal with that freakin mess.

Well...I've gone off on a tangent, but ot entirely so... It's all about freedom people. it's not about healthcare. The TOTUS agenda isn't about taking care of you, it's about control. It's always been about control. When true Patriots stand up to wannabe tyrants, that is a good sign. When you exercise your rights, the ones guaranteed by our constitution especially in defiance of the agenda of those who wish to take away those freedoms...you're doin the right thing.

As an aside, the gentleman who was being interviewed by Rick Sanchez on CNN, he was a correspondent, mentioned he saw a different man with an AR-15 than the one on the video so at least 2 patriots showed their colors in Phoenix. There were at least a dozen that were openly carrying pistols as well. Kudos brothers!

Just for the record. The gentleman in the video with the AR-15 (not an assault weapon) was a black man. So much for the whole white, right and uptight stereotype. In your eye you darn leftists! We're all Americans regardless of color. And we know what freedom means. And we won't back down!

That's my rant.

While the president says he favors a bipartisan approach, he has also said it may ultimately be necessary for Democrats to produce a bill more to their own liking.

Time to sit up and pay attention. Sounds like a threat to me. A veiled and very subtle one to the sheeple, but it screams to me of the "our way or else!"

Those of us who were concerned about the election last year apparently had well-grounded fears. And there's still 3 and half years to go....

In a welcome turn of events, the US has changed their official position on Honduras.
Took them awhile, but at least they came around. They've called Zelaya's actions provocative and have pointedly not called on the Honduran Gov't to reinstate Mel Zelaya.

Although there are many other soft commie gov'ts still calling for his return, we've left that comapany and are now on the right side of this situation.

Honduras has won. They have stood up to the world and in my humble opinion have shamed us into doing the right thing. At least we stepped up to the plate and are doing the right thing.

Oh let's not forget that Hillary our illustrious secretary of state is supporting the idea we join the International court to try our Troops for international warcrimes...that's gonna go over well. not.

Oh yeah, we're conducting surveillance on the west bank to make sure those darn Joos aren't getting uppity again. WTF? like it's any of our freakin business anyways.

On the upside, a Human rights group has resoundingly defended Israel against hamas, stating that the Rocket attacks...which are unguided and indiscriminate are clear violations of the Geneva Convention and are warcrimes, as opposed to the Joos who actually warned the populace where they were gonna bomb and took great pains to avoid civilian casualties...I applaud them for saying this, but I doubt it will do any good. The damn Lefties here and in Europe seem to be in love with the Islamofascists. Talk about a marriage of convenience. It won't prove so convenient if Hamas and Hizbollah get their way. I doubt they'll show any appreciation for groups like "Queers for Palestine"...I'm jus' sayin'.

I think I'm about done for a couple of days. If I stay off the interwebs for a couple of days, maybe I'll be able to digest all this BS and actually write something insightful...maybe.

His parents didn't want him to enlist, but it was his passion for helping people that led L/Cpl. Jeremy Tamburello to the military. "He was a very noble, very compassionate, very brave man" said L/Cpl. Tamburello's father, Kevin. "He knew that he was going to have to go to Iraq and he knew that he might die, but he went anyway."

L/Cpl. Tamburello was killed by an IED while conducting combat operations near Rutbah, Iraq.

The world lost one of it's true heroes a couple of weeks ago. Darrell "Shifty" Powers passed away on June 17 of cancer. "Shifty" was part of the famed E Co/2/506 of the 101st Airborne Division. Easy Company. The Band Of Brothers.

"I loved everything about my daddy," said Margo Johnson, daughter of SSgt. Powers. "He never bragged about what he did in the war. And for a lot of years, he never even talked much about what he did – unless someone asked him about it. But he truly was a hero to me. Just like he'd been to the people who know him as a soldier in a [mini-series]."

Many were also injured, taken as prisoners of war, and missing in action. The Obama administration's stance towards the Honduran's interim government, appears to me that if the precedent is set here, in Honduras, that a criminal president, by his own actions, removes himself from office, according to the Honduran constitution, are we next?

By supporting the soft communists in Latin and South America, have we removed our mantle as the supporter of free countries and peoples and joined the totalitarian regimes?
The question here, and I might add, a very tough question to ask as an American, is this:

Why is the current administration in Washington pressuring a sovereign nation to reinstate Zelaya, against the laws of their country, against the highest law of Honduras?

I cannot believe that as incompetent as I think they are, they don't know that the Honduran government's ouster of Zelaya, and his deportation was actually perfectly legal. And the deportation was meant to prevent bloodshed.

Why are we siding with Chavez and Castro and Ortega and the rest of those socialist commie bastages?

It occurs to me, and I really hate even contemplating the possibility, but to not suggest it would be to ignore what's happening, that the reason for our government's stance on this is that perhaps, just perhaps there is a possibility of the Dems, and the kool-aid drinking Obama zealots trying to get a similar resolution passed to amend the constitution to extend or abolish term limits on the Presidency? Well, there's already a resolution that's been introduced in the House as of January of this year. And there is an advocacy group for abolishing the 22nd amendment. They even have a website end22.com. google it.

Folks, large things are afoot in the world and this country and what I am seeing is something I never would have dreamed possible in these United States. The move towards socialism has been happening at a snails pace, but it's been happening now it's here. Just look at what's happened in the first 6 months of the Obama presidency. Nationalized Banks, Nationalized Auto industry, and now the big push for Nationalized Health Care. And the whole "spreading the wealth around by robbing those who've worked for their wages and giving it to those who have not. Where does it end? Where is the spirit of America?

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras — The United States is turning up pressure on the Honduran government installed by a coup — and the businessmen who support it — warning that they will face severe sanctions if ousted President Manuel Zelaya is not restored to power.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called interim President Roberto Micheletti to say there would be serious consequences if his government ignores international mediation for Zelaya's return.
Her call on Sunday came as talks mediated by Costa Rican President Oscar Arias stalled due to the refusal of Micheletti's delegates to accept demands for Zelaya's return.
State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said that Clinton helped "helped him understand the potential consequences of a failure to take advantage of this mediation."
Honduran business leaders, meanwhile, say U.S. Ambassador Hugo Llorens has called them into meetings to warn that Honduras — impoverished and highly dependent on exports to the United States — could face tough sanctions if the interim government continues to refuse Arias' compromise proposal for Zelaya to return as head of a coalition government.
The European Union added to the pressure on Monday by announcing it was suspending $93.1 million (65.5 million euros) in aid to Honduras.
No government has recognized Micheletti, and the United Nations and Organization of American States have called for the return of Zelaya, who was arrested and hustled out of the country by the army on June 28.
But Micheletti vowed not to stand down — and implied that the United States is betraying one of its staunchest allies. Honduras allowed its territory to be used as a staging area for U.S.-backed Contra rebels in Nicaragua during the 1980s, and more recently it sent troops to Iraq.
"We have received pressure from all sides," Micheletti said in a speech before cheering supporters Monday. "One learns in life that people who seem to be friends are not really friends, but are only interested in what you can do for them or give to them."
Referring to Clinton's call, Micheletti suggested she send an envoy to Honduras to verify that his government is not persecuting opponents.
"I told her to please send someone she has confidence in, someone she can really talk to, down here to say whether it was really true that people are being killed all the time," he said.
He vowed to stay in power until the scheduled Nov. 29 elections. The United States has suggested it may not recognize that vote because it will be held under a de facto government.
"We are going to go with life, we are going to go on with our government, we are going to go on with the next presidential elections on Nov. 29," he said. "They have to respect us."
Business leaders — a key sector of support for Micheletti — also vowed to tough it out, hoping that the U.S. government is as wary as they are of Zelaya, who has aligned himself with leftist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, one of Washington's biggest antagonists in the region.
The interim government has launched a lobbying effort against sanctions, betting they wouldn't play well with U.S. conservatives or business interests.
"Honduras is a small, poor country," said Amilcar Bulnes, the head of the Honduran Council of Private Business. "The world would look very bad if it takes out its wrath on this country."
Bulnes attended one of the meetings with Llorens last week, and said the U.S. ambassador told businessmen that "there could be consequences for Honduras. ... They could be very tough."
"Implicitly, he was saying there may be U.S. economic sanctions within the framework of an action by the (Organization of American States)," Bulnes said.
He said such sanctions could draw resistance from investors in the country's key assembly plant sector, who are overwhelmingly American.
"I imagine there would be some reaction from them," Bulnes said.
The U.S. Embassy said it would not comment on the meetings.
On July 8, the U.S. government announced it had suspended $16.5 million in military aid, and had placed a hold on development aid expected to total about $180 million. But it has not yet threatened to cut off trade or remittances, a move which analysts say could quickly bring down Honduras' economy.
"The U.S. could make this be over in a second if it imposed strong sanctions," said Mark Jones, a professor of political science at Rice University. "But in doing so it would hurt the poor, it would hurt our allies."
EU External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner announced the aid cut from Brussels, calling the standoff "a crisis which Honduras can ill afford."
Adolfo Facusse, the head of Honduras' National Association of Industries, was defiant:
"We prefer sanctions to Zelaya's return," which he said would bring the "loss of liberty, dictatorship, communism."
Zelaya angered many here by ignoring the objections of the courts and Congress to try to hold a referendum on changing the constitution, which many saw as an attempt to impose a Chavez-style socialist government.
Bulnes said the damage to Honduras' image since Zelaya's ouster had already hurt the country's tourism, hotel and restaurant industries, but he said that farms and factories were still operating normally.
Seventy percent of Hondurans live in poverty and the per capita gross domestic product is just under $4,000 per year.
"Neither Micheletti nor Zelaya gives me anything to eat," said street vendor Oscar Quintanilla, who is struggling to raise four children amid constant protests. "I don't care about constitutional referendums, all I care about is the welfare of my family."

So, the article makes a great deal in the opening paragraphs of showing how the whole world is essentially supporting the return of Zelaya. Only at the very bottom of the article does it mention the reason he was ousted, and nowhere in the article does it mention that Zelaya essentially impeached himself by insisting on violating the constitution of Honduras.

I think a very telling quote from Micheletti the interim President is this:

What the hell is our country coming to when we cannot even tell the truth and outright support a wannabe dictator's return to power?

Reynold Armand didn’t want to wait until he turned 18 to join the Marines. He persuaded his adoptive mother to sign papers allowing him to sign up a year early.

"I'm very proud of him," said his father, Carl Armand. "When he was home, he gave no sign of being afraid." Armand didn’t speak much about his experiences in Iraq, according to family members, saying only that most Iraqi civilians he encountered were very nice.

"We used to send him a lot of candy," said his mother, Alma Armand. "He would pass it out."

Manny Rodriguez, 21, of Rochester met Armand five years ago at New Day Church in Rochester, where both young men were members of the youth group. "He was such an amazing all-around person. He was so easy and comfortable to be around. He liked people for who they are."

No definitive report could be found on how Cpl. Armand died. Some report that he was killed when shot and others report that he was killed by an IED that exploded near his vehicle in Balad, Iraq.

My Personal Outrage at the coverage and treatment of Honduras actions against Zelaya....

I've been reading all kinds of BS about the supposed "military coup" in Honduras.

I am frankly disgusted with the media portrayal and our own government's reaction to the actions taken by the Honduran Government.

First of all, the actual attempted coup was by Zelaya himself. Blatantly breaking of Honduran constitutional law. The Supreme Court of Honduras gave the military their orders to arrest and deport Zelaya due to his brazen attempt to circumvent the Honduran constitution. The facts in this case are actually quite clear. Zelaya tried to force a populist referendum that was illegal and the government..all branches opposed him as it was unconstitutional.

This si a travesty. What is happening now is that our own government is allying with Hugo Chavez, Castro, Daniel Ortega and a whole host of socialist dictators on reinstating a criminal to the presidency of Honduras.

We should be applauding them for upholding the democracy not demonizing them as fomenting a coup on their own people. The fact is the overwhelming majority o Hondurans support his ousting and the entire government apparatus, to include the members of their congress in hios OWN party are against his move to secure his personal power in the country.

Liberty or Tyrrany...that is the question. And the Hondurans overwhelmingly chose liberty. We should be supporting this wholeheartedly, despite what the dictators and communists say.

But our current regime in Washington has no balls, or maybe, they support the ousted president because they have the same idea.

anywho, whatever you think about this, the fact is it was a legal removal of power from a criminal president. period.

Zelaya couldn’t get the ballots printed in Honduras since the referendum had been pronounced illegal by the country’s Supreme Court AND the electoral board. Therefore, the government couldn’t print them. No private printer was willing to break the law, either. So Zelaya had the ballots printed in Venezuela and flown in.
The Supreme Court instructed the military (who would be the ones doing the job) NOT to distribute the ballots to the polling stations.
Zelaya then
led thousands of supporters to recover the material from an air force warehouse before it could be confiscated.
His supporters broke into the military installation where the ballots were kept.
Zelaya’s supporters started distributing the ballots at 15,000 voting stations across the country. This act placed him in outright defiance of the law, the Constitution, and the Supreme Court.
When the armed forces refused to distribute the ballots, Zelaya fired the chief of the armed forces, Gen. Romeo Vásquez, and the defense minister, the head of the army and the air force resigned in protest. The country’s Supreme Court voted unanimously that Vásquez be reinstated.
Tuesday last week the Honduran Congress, led by members of his own party, passed a law preventing the holding of referendums or plebiscites 180 days before or after general elections.

The position of the Honduran Congress, the Supreme Court, and the attorney general is that the Constitution is to be strictly adhered to.
This is why Zelaya was removed from power: all branches of government and the country’s institutions recognized that he had broken the law.
Again, the military - by placing him in an airplane to Costa Rica early Sunday morning before he carried through the unlawful poll - acted in compliance with the Supreme Court and the Honduran Congress.
Enforcing the Honduran Constitution:Mary O’Grady, in today’s Wall Street Journal, writes (emphasis added),
Honduras is fighting back by strictly following the constitution. The Honduran Congress met in emergency session yesterday and designated its president as the interim executive as stipulated in Honduran law. It also said that presidential elections set for November will go forward. The Supreme Court later said that the military acted on its orders. It also said that when Mr. Zelaya realized that he was going to be prosecuted for his illegal behavior, he agreed to an offer to resign in exchange for safe passage out of the country. Mr. Zelaya denies it.
Many Hondurans are going to be celebrating Mr. Zelaya’s foreign excursion. Street protests against his heavy-handed tactics had already begun last week. On Friday a large number of military reservists took their turn. “We won’t go backwards,” one sign said. “We want to live in peace, freedom and development.”
Besides opposition from the Congress, the Supreme Court, the electoral tribunal and the attorney general, the president had also become persona non grata with the Catholic Church and numerous evangelical church leaders. On Thursday evening his own party in Congress sponsored a resolution to investigate whether he is mentally unfit to remain in office.

Former Argentine Ambassador to the U.N. Emilio Cárdenas told me on Saturday that he was concerned that “the OAS under Insulza has not taken seriously the so-called ‘democratic charter.’ It seems to believe that only military ‘coups’ can challenge democracy. The truth is that democracy can be challenged from within, as the experiences of Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, and now Honduras, prove.” A less-kind interpretation of Mr. Insulza’s judgment is that he doesn’t mind the Chávez-style coup.
The struggle against chavismo has never been about left-right politics. It is about defending the independence of institutions that keep presidents from becoming dictators. This crisis clearly delineates the problem. In failing to come to the aid of checks and balances, Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Insulza expose their true colors.

Band Of Brothers

Something a little different this week. Instead of profiling a service member, Wednesday Hero will be profiling a movie. Band Of Brothers. It was a miniseries tha aired on HBO in 2001. It follows Maj. Richard Winters, Cpt. Lewis Nixon and the men of the 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, aka E-Company or Easy Company on their march to Germany. From their training to their battles at Normandy and Bastogne, their liberation of the Kaufering IV concentration camp to their taking of Hitler's Eagle Nest. A great cast and great writing make this one of the best war movies ever made. But it is graphic in visuals and language. And parts of it may be hard to watch, but it is worth it.

What the men of E-Company did will never be forgotten. They are the heroes that helped the cause of freedom.

There's a dead cat on the line. I was first acquainted with this old adage in the early 90's while living in Augusta, Georgia. Apparently it is an old expression referring to the likelihood that something, somewhere is wrong. Very wrong. I thought about this expression after Chrysler (soon followed by General Motors) announced they would be closing down many of their dealerships. Since these are "franchise" operations that do not represent significant, if any, expenses for the company, but instead represent streams of revenue, it seemed mighty strange that they would have a desire to close any of them. To the contrary, they should be encouraging as many of these businesses as possible to stay open since they represent the public face of the company during this economic downturn that has created such a malaise for the auto industry. Instead of putting the best face they can to the public, they have curiously chosen to do exactly the opposite and essentially lower their public profile. There certainly seems to be a dead cat on the line...and there is.

There are just too many things that don't make sense. It isn't just the unjustifiable business decision to cut operations that don't affect the costs of the company's business. It is also the process of selecting the dealerships to be closed. It is particularly suspicious that many of the dealerships selected for elimination are among the most successful operations within the Chrysler network. Many of them have been Chrysler and Dodge dealers for decades. What possible justification could they have for closing down successful dealerships that represent the very lifeblood of their company's existence? Not only are they choosing to reduce the flow of cash into their company, they are doing so in the midst of a recession that has been particularly disastrous to the auto industry. Is somebody missing a cat?

Some of the dealerships that got the axe are telling stories that raise considerable doubt that there were ever any economic reasons for this process and that there was, instead, a political motivation. One dealership slated for closing in Alvin, Texas, increased its new car sales 50% in the first four months of 2009! How can you rationalize closing a dealer who is increasing sales while in the throes of the worst recession since the 1970's? As it turns out, this story is not unique. Successful and highly profitable dealerships have all too often been the ones selected for elimination. Smell a dead cat?

As you dig into this you find that there is evidence to suggest that dealers selected for elimination tended to be ones who are affiliated with, or donated money to, the Republican party and its candidates. Coincidence? When the the list of 789 closing franchises is compared to the list of political donors making contributions in the November 2008 election, less than 10 percent gave to Democrats while 90 percent gave substantial sums to Republican candidates. The franchise owners selected for dealership elimination contributed over $450,000 to Republican presidential candidates and the GOP, while $7,970 was donated to Hillary Clinton's campaign and $2,200 was given to John Edwards' campaign. By comparison, Barack Obama received a mere $450 in donations! Dead cat found.

Some of the dealers on the hit list jump right out at you:

“Vern Buchanan is a Republican Congressman from the Tampa Bay area. Robert Archer is the son of former Republican Congressman Bill Archer. John Culberson, a libertarian-leaning Conservative, is now the Congressman for that West Houston District. He was heavily supported in his election efforts by the Archers Family. Additionally, James Crowley, owner of a Chrysler Dealership in Escondido, California is on the list to be closed. Crowley is a big backer of libertarian-leaning Republican Cong. John Campbell of Orange County.”

The list is heavy with influential Republicans and libertarians. Another name on the list is Ray Huffines, who owns a large dealership in the Metro-Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The Huffines family have been major contributors to Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) over the years...- American Thinker

Every once in a while I need to sit back, digest information, and relax.

I spend a fair amount of time surfing the interweb and am bombarded by information. I do my best to absorb it all, but alas, my powers of absorption are lacking.
I know I need to take a break from time to time and pontificate and reflect on the information. I have been trying to do that. The problem for me, as I've stated in earlier posts is that there are so many things that are of concern and that although they are all intertwined, they also are best explored individually.

I'll start with the possible revolution in Iran. I say possible, because at present, that's all it is. A lot of folks I know seem to think something huge is happening. Maybe they're right, but I dunno. I read all the updates put out by Stratfor and honestly, they are usually on the money, but not always. But coming from years of experience in intelligence gathering to include the 1979 revolution in Iran, I tend to take these guys a little more seriously than a blogger at HuffPo or some other rag.

I honestly feel for the Iranian people. They're culture has a strong history of independence. And yet with the "revolution" that made them an Islamic State run by Mullahs such as the Ayatollah, it is difficult to see them breaking free from that backwards ideology. I hope they can do it.

Contrary to popular belief, Iran is actually a huge country. And there is a large rural population. It seems to me, the rural denizens of Iran most likely don't twitter a whole lot, and only get what information they have from the cleric-controlled government.

I suspect they're not all that supportive of this "revolution" that's going on. Not cause they're evil Islamists, but because they are, for all intents and purposes, a simpler people that don't care for change of any flavor. We know that first hand here in America. We have something that suits us, and we don't want a "progressive" government telling us what to do. I suspect, neither do the rural citizens of Iran.

Look at how things are here. Usually, it is the urbanite, collectivists that scream and holler for change, etc. And it's the "backwards rural types" like us that don't see the awesomeness of what is being offered. It's a thin comparison to be sure, but not entirely inappropriate.

What strikes me as interesting, is that because of all these "student protestors", our left-wing moonbats are all about supporting a new revolution there. And because the story is plastered all over and seems to point to a demand by the citizens to have a recount and support a more democratic process, a lot of "right-wing" moonbats are doing the saying the same thing.

What everyone fails to see, is that no matter who wins, even if a recount puts Mousavi (sp?) at the helm of the presidency, there will be no significant change of power. Now to be sure, the simple fact that the people could force a recount is a sure sign of power to cause the clerics to let this happen is significant in it's own right. But from the way I see it, and of course I am not an Iranian, so my opinion is probably moot anyways, but still, the way I see it, if they get the other guy instead of Ahmadinnerjacket, they still have Sharia law governed by the Ayatollah and another Islamic fanatic, maybe less fanatic, but still a pretty serious Islamic in charge of the presidency. A revolution, perhaps, but is it really necessary? More bloodshed, for essentially the same thing. I hear stories of this guy being more moderate, but what does being more moderate entail? Unless they totally roll back a bunch of draconian laws on social behavior and human rights, which is highly unlikely, are the Iranian people really better off?

I think this "revolution" talk from the west is simply that, talk. And who does it benefit, at least in the short-term? The world in general and the west in particular. As long as Iran is in turmoil, they won't be launching nukes or missiles at anyone. I think that is the main reason this is getting play and that we are supporting it, not because anyone really believes significant change will be coming to Iran once this election protest gets resolved.

Would I personally like to see the people overthrow that fascist regime? Absolutely! Would I support a US effort to enable the people to take control of their destiny? Absolutely! But let's be frank here. Interference from any country right now would be a poor decision. Until the Iranians actually produce a real leader that would enact significant change, we need to stay the hell out of it.

Ok, that's all I got for now on the Iranian "revolution" fiasco.

There is another thing here that ties in nicely with the distraction theory I talked about in regards to Iran. While the American citizens are tuned in raptly to witness the "revolution" in Iran, we're also not paying attention to the threats to our own freedoms here in these United States. Along with American Idol and MTV and whatever other garbage is on the tube or the interweb. When Us customs is set to change the definition of a switchblade to include one handed opening knives, that will essentially outlaw a HUGE number of current pocketknives, without a congressional mandate or a review, arbitrarily exerting their power to fundamentally change something to deliberately outlaw a tool. Not a weapon, but a tool. F--ing ridiculous. Whether as a result of the new definition cause the LEOs to actually enforce the law on switchblades to include a damn pocket knife or not is irrelevant. I suspect it would be one of those "additional" type crimes added to something else if said "switchblade" were found on a suspect. But still people, that is still a right we would allow a government agency to take away from us because of "change" in definition.

I have long been offended by our society's willingness to accept new definitions of words and concepts that have existed in their "old" forms for centuries if not longer.
Take for instance, the word militia.
Traditionally, and for centuries the militia was literally the armed populace of a country, territory, village, town etc. The people were expected to be armed and ready to defend the country, territory etc. even when ruled by Kings. What people can truly be called free men and women that are systematically disarmed. Especially in the false premise of their own safety and well-being? They can't be called free. That's a simple fact.

I won't ramble anymore on that particular aspect, but seriously folks, back in the 90's during the militia "craze/scare" the media portrayed citizens, regardless of ideology or intent of being extremists and dangerous because they were forming "militias"…oooh scary…yeah, not so much. McVeigh did more damage to the individual citizens rights simply because he was an actual extremist.

The numerous groups of citizens that believe in this country that were simply preparing to defend her, were lumped in with neo-nazis and white supremacist nutjobs. Who paid the price for his actions and the media response. Aside from the poor families and souls who were killed by his act of malicious intent, the American people as a whole were. He accomplished one goal, he terrorized us and the media aided and abetted him. Now militias are actually defined as anti-government paramilitary groups.

Look it up on wiki. I was shocked to find this out. There has been a long campaign against our freedoms by shaping our perceptions of things. This one egregious example.

Although I am not a real religious guy, I have a few other things that truly bother me. The religious symbols both Christian and Pagan that somehow have become symbols of white-supremacist hate groups. In fact to sport a tattoo of one of these symbols makes you a racist or even subject to being charged with hate speech.

Example one, the Celtic cross. How on God's green earth did that ever become a symbol of hatred? The Celtic cross is a beautiful symbol, I've always found it very attractive, and it's also very…well, Celtic. It boggles the mind. Which leads into example two…Odin's cross and the celtic cross are variants of the same, except Odin's cross is also refered to as the solar cross. The adoption of the Christian faith into pagan society showed a morphing of the original ancient symbols into Christian variants. This is true of Odin's cross and Thor's Hammer.

Example two, Odin's cross or Thor's hammer. Both Ancient Norse symbols. Now they somehow symbolize hatred as well. I am a bit leery of Odin, but not as a hater, simply as a deity. He's a bit of a mischief maker…kinda like Coyote. That however, is a subject for another time. Thor, he was the patron of warriors and craftsmen. Hence the smith's hammer that was also the weapon of choice for smiting Giants. I do realize that there are a lot of these Pagan groups that are into old pagan religion as an affirmation and a pride in being of Nordic descent and in some cases they are actual racists. But the symbols themselves do not denote this and they never have.

Another interesting development in the last half of the last century was the steady undermining of the warrior class in our society. I think if we look at history, to actually be in the warrior class was desirable, if you were on the receiving end, not so much. But at what point did it become disgraceful to be a warrior. To join the warrior class, so to speak? Our progressive vision of a utopian collectivist society has a lot to do with that. Even those of us that are imbued with spirit of a warrior are sometimes misled about what it means to be a warrior in our society. It is sad really.

We've started to make a comeback. We have started to embrace our warriors for the heroes they are. But some do so in a patronizing way. Warriors are proud of their role in society and do not deserve to be patronized for their voluntary service. Do not show pity. Show support. Let them know that they truly are the defenders of this republic. And they we respect for what they are.
There are many tragedies in this world, one of the biggest is our denial of the natural order of things. People die, people fight, we will not ever all agree on anything. Human nature is a bitch to idealists. They just can't accept that we aren't all wired alike. I hear about the one tribe mentality. And to an extent the concept has merit. But when an actual tribal people can't get along with themselves, how can the world as a tribe expect any more than a small one? It is simply a fantastic delusion. Not accepting there are people that hate you and will do everything in their power to kill you for any number of idiotic reasons, does change the fact that said people are actually out there actively trying to do so. Until you come to that realization, you're blissfully ignorant of the world. If it makes you feel better, oh well. The warriors will be here to protect your asses too.

This whole left-right paradigm came about accidentally anyway. During the early French Revolutionary era of 1789-1796, this referred to the seating arrangements in the various legislative bodies of France. The aristocracy sat on the right of the Speaker (traditionally the seat of honor) and the commoners sat on the left. And while this may have made sense in late-Eighteenth Century Franch, it does no longer.

In case you didn't know, this young Private was murdered by an American that converted to Islam. He was doing "Hometown Recruiting" and the bastard drove up and shot him and another soldier. This is a fitting tribute to a young soldier that gave his life for his country.

23 years old from Conway, Arkansas
D Company, 2nd Battalion, 58th Infantry
June 1, 2009

"My brother taught me valuable lessons and made me the man I am today," said Pfc. Triston Long, brother of Pvt. William Long. "My commander said, 'Make your brother one of us.' I will miss my brother with all that I am, and I serve in honor of him."

Pvt. William Long had just completed basic training and was set to ship out on June 8 to his first duty station in Korea when he and Private Second Class Quinton Ezeagwula were shot outside a Little Rock, Arkansas Army-Navy Recruiting Center by Abdul Hakim Mujahid Muhammad. They were in Little Rock to speak to with potential recruits about their experiences.

Pvt. Long's father, Daris Long, a former Marine, wrote a letter to give to him when he shipped out for South Korea. In that letter he wrote, "Your day only ends when you’ve done your duty. You and your brother … are both heroes for having the moral courage to stand up when your country needs you most. You are in my hopes and my thoughts and my prayers. You are my son, you are my hero. I love you. Semper fidelis."

Along with his father and brother, Pvt. William Long is survived by his mother, Janet, who had served in the Navy herself.

Aviation Ordnanceman 2nd Class (SEAL) Marc A. Lee
28 years old from Hood River, Oregon

"Marc was amazing. He was my best friend, my love," his widow, Maya, said.

Petty Officer Marc A. Lee joined the Navy in 2001 and became an AO after completing Naval Air Technical Training. Later that year he attempted to complete the grueling BUD/S program but caught pneumonia and had to drop out. He tried again in 2004 and completed the course.

On August 2, 2006, Marc A. Lee became the first SEAL to be killed in combat in Iraq when he was fatally wounded in a firefight in Ramadi, Iraq. The following is from the award citation:

"During the operation, one element member was wounded by enemy fire. The element completed the casualty evacuation, regrouped and returned onto the battlefield to continue the fight. Petty Officer Lee and his SEAL element maneuvered to assault an unidentified enemy position. He, his teammates, Bradley Fighting Vehicles and Abrams tanks engaged enemy positions with suppressive fire from an adjacent building to the north.

"To protect the lives of his teammates, he fearlessly exposed himself to direct enemy fire by engaging the enemy with his machine gun and was mortally wounded in the engagement. His brave actions in the line of fire saved the lives of many of his teammates"

"It was so like Marc to give up his life to save his friends," his mother, Debbie Lee, told the Hood River News. "I am so proud of him. He is my hero."

Petty Officer Lee was posthumously awarded a Bronze Star with combat "V" for his actions in Iraq during his team’s combat tour and the Purple Heart medal.

Sgt. Pablo A. Calderon
26 years old from Brooklyn, New York
1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division
November 30, 2004

"He wanted to fight for his country," said his heartbroken younger sister, Lilliana Calderone. "He always wanted to be there."

Pablo Calderon joined the Army in 1997, right out of High School. "He went straight to the army from high school," said his sister. "He wanted to improve himself. He was proud. He loved his country."

Sgt. Calderon was killed when an IED was detonated near his vehicle in Fallujah, Iraq. Also killed in the attack was Sgt. Jose Guereca of Missouri City, Texas.

Sailors assigned to the Air Department of the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) are silhouetted against the setting sun at the conclusion of flight operations. George H.W. is underway in the Atlantic Ocean conducting flight deck certifications.
