sgt. Kenneth G. Ross
Sgt. Kenneth G. Ross
24 years old from Tucson, Arizona
7th Battalion, 159th Aviation Regiment
September 25, 2005
U.S. Army

"He believed in serving his country," said Ross' father, David C. Ross. Gary Anderson, Ross' best friend and an Army infantry veteran who served nine months in Afghanistan and 11 months in Iraq during his active duty stint, was a classmate of Ross at Marana's Mountain View High School. "You know, I heard this news of Ken and I broke down and cried hysterically," said Anderson, now a firefighter for the Ak-Chin Indian Community in Maricopa. "He loved everyone; everyone who came in contact with him loved him. He'd always help everyone out that he could."

A 1999 graduate of Mountain View, Ross played drums in the marching band and orchestra, his father said. Ross enlisted in the Army right after graduation. "He just wanted to take part in history," Anderson said.

At the time of his death, he was a helicopter mechanic — acting as a door gunner on his last mission, his father said. SSgt. Ross was killed when his helicopter went down southwest of Deh Chopan, Afghanistan. Also killed in the crash were Sgt. Shawn A. Graham, Warrent Officer Adrian B. Stump, Sgt. Tane T. Baum, Chief Warrent Officer 2 John M. Flynn and Sgt. Patrick D. Stewart.

Along with his father, SSgt. Ross is survived by his mother, Mary Ross, 57, and his sister, Stephanie Ross, 30. "I know his last thoughts were for everybody else and not for himself," Anderson said. "I know he wanted to make sure everybody was safe and would go home."

Under the Flag

One of my all time favorite bands is the Irish Pub Band, Shilelagh Law. These guys are real patriotic Americans. Their 9/11 tribute 'Christmas in Ny' I posted here a few weeks ago.

Well, ere is a new one. It in memory of a friend of theirs:

Under the Flag was written byF.F Steve Gardner (E-67) in the weeks following the LODD (Line of Duty Death) of F.F. Thomas Brick (L-36 FDNY) on 12/16/03. He was a friend, peer and colleague of two of the lads from S.L and will always be remembered by His family, the members of Eng-95/L-36 and all the brothers from the entire 13th Battalion, as well as the entire FDNY.This song serves not only as a tribute to his memory but to the memory of every man an woman from every Uniformed Service who has ever made the Supreme Sacrifice while protecting the lives of the rest of us here today.Thank You......We Will Never Forget.................

I hope my fellow patriots will enjoy this video.

Thank you to The boys of Yonkers NY. Your music and thoughts are much appreciated.

You can visit their MySpace site here.

Sierra Vista, Arizona Tea Party at Veteran's Park

I was a bit reluctant to attend, but once I got there today, I realized it was definitely a worthwhile event. I was not expecting the turnout we had. When I arrived it was just getting into full swing and there were easily 1000 people in attendance. Being that most were there to hear some rallying speeches and sign the petitions, once things calmed down, peole started to filter out. Kinda like going to see a concert and after seeing the main show and listening to random tunes until the next show comes on, leaving cause you got what you came for.

People are starting to filter in
There were several Gadsen Flags as well as the Stars and Stripes
At first we thought this guy was leading a small horse...
There were alot of veterans in attendance and even some active duty soldiers. Our state representative had a few words, we'll see if he lives up to them.
All in all it was a good turnout and it was encouraging to see so many in support even in our little town.
Hooah! Way to go Sierra Vista!

Tea Parties...Patriot's Day...What is this all coming to?

I've been reading alot today..the weather has kept me from my normal duties so I've been trying to keep up with events today.

April 15th. It's a deadline most of us dread...tax day. Where Uncle Sam reaches out and touches us in one of our most sensitive areas...our wallets.

In response to the multitudes of outraged citizens over the horrendous fiscal policies of the current administration, and I'm not just talking about the executive branch, but the legislative one too, the kool-aid drinking leftists have denounced us as traitors. It's our patriotic duty to pay our "fair share" of taxes don't you know. While I have to admit, taxes are a necessary evil, are we not already taxed on everything we do, buy or sell? Everything is taxed. Everything. On top of this, our incomes are taxed as well. And the rates are not only variable, but the tax code is impossible. So even after having the maximum tax witholding taken out of your paycheck, somehow, you end up owing the gov't money. It is so illogical. It's a freaking nightmare.

Our leftist apologist friends are so keen on reminding us that the Boston Tea party, which is the inspiration for this 'Tea Party' movement was about "Taxation without Representation". And...they point out that as a democracy (which we aren't). We are represented by those we've elected. And we, read conservatives, lost. We a re actually a representative republic.

Well, I might remind our leftist friends that we are not being represented fairly by our governement.

And have not been for years.

Many, many years. Decades in fact.

The fact is, when the governement becomes a one party power, and I might add, not even remotely close to the party it used to be, in fact it's actions are totally antithetical to the constitution, then we, and I mean regular freedom loving folks, not republicans or democrats, just regular folks that believe in what America is supposed to stand for, what it was meant to be, have great cause for unrest and when you have a government that is making a point to label anyone that isn't a Kool-Aid drinking socialist/marxist a possible terrorist, then you have reason to strike us at our heart, to awaken that sleeping giant.

We are a peace-loving people, but when our backs are up against the wall, we will protect our constitution and our inherent rights as if our lives depended on it, in fact, not only our own lives, but those of our family and friends and neighbors. The lives of our children and grandchildren.

These buffoons that have the balls to call us extremists and lecture us on history lessons would do well to study their history as well. Tyranny does not come only from monarchs and dictators. Instead of one tyrant, we have 545 that control the policies that the rest of us must live by, making themselves richer and blaming increased deficit spending on "the economy" or "the war" or one political party versus the other. Folks, Congress has the final word. They can make a difference. But they won't, because they're a bunch of greedy, power-hungry animals that think we, the people exist to serve them.

Last time I checked, they were supposed to be serving us and our best interests as a free people. A free and independent people. They have failed miserable at the task we've hired them for.

And what do they do? They continue to divide us, incite class warfare, race warfare...

because a divided populace is easier to control.

So where are we now? Today is an important day. Today will determine the will of the people.

I suspect, the coverage of the Tea Parties will be next to non-existent. Of course FOX news will cover it, since it's in their best interests as the self-proclaimed sole voice of Conservatives in the Television Media. But remember, it's not about republicans versus democrats people. It's about an increasing tyranny, gun control advocates know all about the theory of incrementalism. This has been the case for many years through administrations of BOTH major parties. It is coming to a head becasue of the current sweeping attacks on the Americans that believe in freedom and independence. Personal responsibility. We don't want to lose our rights to a bunch of elite politicians that have become the de facto royalty of America. Our voices weren't heard and continue to not be heard. Only the lobbyists with the money get their agendas heard.

At some point, we will reach a turning point. Today will be an indicator of which way the winds will go. Will they continue down this destructive path, or will they shift? We all hope they will shift. The Left is missing the point of the protests. These protests are a last ditch effort to be heard without resorting to drastic measures that very few want to see happen. I for one love my country and would not ever want to have to participate in anything resembling a war on my own homeland's soil.

The more the socialists push us, the harder they push us, the more devastating the consequences will be for us all.

As Jefferson once said:

"What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are notwarned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?"

--Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, 1787.

And perhaps my favorite Jefferson quote:

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

--Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith, 1787.
Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

"We know Alan will be in a better place because of the sacrifice he made, because of his love for our country."

With sleet gushing from gunmetal gray clouds, some 30 Marines standing in three trim lines saluted the U.S. flag that four of their brethren used to christen a new pole.

A large engraved stone set at the base of the 38-foot pole explained the occasion: "In memory of Corporal Aaron L. Seal. Who gave his life for our country. 1982-2006."

The Marines from Engineer Company B joined several dozen community residents and well-wishers at a ceremony Wednesday honoring Seal, the 23-year-old Elkhart reservist who died last fall in Iraq. Seal's family also attended the 20-minute tribute at Elkhart Community Schools' administration building adjacent to Memorial High School -- the fallen Marine's alma mater.

In the early morning hours of July 13, 2008, Soldiers from Chosen Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment were not thinking about medals as they fought off roughly 200 insurgents attacking their vehicle patrol base in Afghanistan.

No Soldier in combat does.

The Army, however, takes pause afterward to honor those who distinguish themselves in battle and recognizes them before their peers.
