A small rant
Caution: there is some profanity in this post...you've been warned.
The war never ends it seems. They just won't let it go. They insist in their narrative of reality that tighter gun control laws here will somehow change the outcome of the war in Mexico between the Gov't and the Drug Cartels. Somehow it's the US citizens fault that there is a war going on that the Mexican Gov't can't seem to get a handle on despite it's own draconian gun laws. And so a former Bush Aide is coming out in support of a renewed 'assault weapons' ban. what the hell is an assault weapon anyway? I don't think they know. Actually I KNOW they don't know. If it's black and has a detachable magazine, it's probably an assault weapon to htem...to include a custom ruger 10/22 with a pistol grip, detachable 50 round magazine, polymer stock...yeah looks mean, must be mean huh? except it's a fucking .22. *sigh*
yeah next thing you know they'll be trying to call a knife with an assist for one handed opening a switchblade...oh wait they've already done that huh...or not, I know they wer trying to redefine switchblade so that a whole bunch of millions of knives would suddenly be illegal just by redefining what the item is...convenient huh?
I'm sick and tired of theis bullshit. And I'm sick and tired of being politically correct about every daggum thing. I'm just sooo fucking done. Stick a fucking fork in me.
Unfortunately, I can rant and rave and act like a freaking loon here on this blog, and there are a few folks that actually take a little time out of their day or week or month, depending on the frequency of their visits but I know all I'm doing is preaching to the choir. It's sad really. Maybe I need to go to some lefty sites and start preaching, but I doubt that'll do any good. They've most all of 'em drank the friggin' Kool-Aid already. America, the country whose embodiment is in an ideal, not a geography enshrined in the most awesome document ever devised, that I swore an oath to protect with my lifeblood if necessary has slowly eroded. her edges are frayed, her colors have begun to fade. It depresses me. alot. I don't want to see another violent civil war come to this country, but we're in the beginning stages already. We have in this country two diametrically opposed worldviews that cannot be reconciled. Unfortunately the worldview that the founders had for us is being replaced by a view that has caused the death of millions time and time again and leads to nothing but tyranny.
I hope it does not come to pass. I hope America, the freedom loving half, rise up at the ballot box and elect freedom loving men and women to represent them and change the direction this country has been heading in for decades. It's time to take back the gov't from the despots who would be our masters. For if we do not....the consequences will be dire for all concerned. And that's not something I want to even think about. At least not until I have to....
My rant for the day/week/month...we'll see..hehehe.

I have to say, when I read this at TAH, I was shocked to say the least.
I don't care if you think would should be in Afghanistan or not. This is still a tragic loss of life.
I don't even know if any of the scouts I served with are in 361 Cav. good possibility, but one never knows. All I can say is B troop lived up to the tradition of cavalrymen and stood by their buddies. donating blood in the midst of battle, wounded troopers refusing to be medevaced so they could stay and fight beside their fellow troopers. Brings a tear to my eye and makes me proud of them.

Following this blog posting is information on how to donate to the Combat Outpost Keating Relief Fund. These men have lost friends, their outpost, and all their belongings. One soldier who made it out wrote that “most people back home dont even know, no one gives a shit”. Well, many of us do. And you can prove it by giving whatever you can. These guys need things like running shoes, and other essentials, as well as some comfort items like iPods and DVD players. The American Legion has kicked in $1000 to start the fund, and your humble blogger will be the first to donate $100. I intend to get these items out by the end of next week. ANY amount you can give, no matter how small will help us prove that we care.
Well, I searched google for some relevant images for 361 cav and got nothing...sometimes I wonder about google...i got so much unrelated crap it made me ill.

News of Egan’s death came to Pennsauken shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday, Krista Egan, Sgt. Egan's sister-in-law, said. His mother, Irene, was on the telephone when an Army sergeant walked up to the door. "My mother-in-law was talking on the telephone to Mike’s wife, Maria, when he came. Maria had just got the news. The Army sergeant told my mother-in-law it was his first time notifying a family."Sgt. Egan served in the Marine Corps for eight years, was a civilian for a year, then joined the National Guard. As a Marine, he had been previously served in Afghanistan."He was well-liked by everyone," Patrick Egan, Sgt. Egan's brother, said.
Sgt. Michael Egan was killed when an IED detonated near his vehicle while on patrol in Ramadi. Also killed in the attack were Spc. William Evans, 22, of Hallstead, PA, Spc. William Fernandez, 37, of Reading, PA and Lt. Mark Dooley of the Vermont National Guard.
Godspeed Sgt Egan and the others of the 104th CAV, PA nat'l Guard. ANd may you enjoy drinking with friends at Fiddler's Green!

A Tattered and Torn Country...

One man touring the Capitol with his sons told The Times that the damaged flag he saw on top of the Rayburn building sends the message of "a tattered and torn country, which, you know, has a bit of truth to it presently as well, but I think we should improve our image."
I have to agree. read the story at the times...it seems a direct reflection of exactly what our gov't thinks of our great country...or maybe what the result of their "progress" generates.

SFC Monti was serving with a Cav Squadron in the 10th Moutain Div.
