One of America's Heroes joined his brothers today...
Darrell "Shifty" Powers died today.
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America," for an amount of "up to and including my life."
I stole this blatantly from a post at Blackfive...there was no author attributed to it, but I've finally got a reason to use it. I personally think it's beautiful and appropriate.
