I raise my glass to the boys no longer here...

I saw this tribute to a fallen comrade over at Tanker Brothers...
To Patrick's family: my prayers go out to you...
To Patrick: May we meet someday at Fiddler's Green brother....

OutSide The Windows

By: Deborah Tainsh 3/04
(In memory of Sgt. Patrick Tainsh, KIA Baghdad 2/11/04)

We watch out the windows, your dad and I,
wanting your easy walk towards the house
the wrap of your hand around the brass knob.
Instead we see the chaplain’s footprints
we have not been able to scrub from the concrete,
his knuckle prints branded against the door.
Any moment now we will break
through the matrix, reach you,
and pull you back into the kitchen where you’ll
show us the proper way to prepare the scallops.
You chose to trade-in your surf board and snowboard
for what you said was something
that would make a difference.
The last time you spoke with your brother
you said, “Don’t thank me, it’s my job.”
You always told your dad and me, “Don’t Worry.”
You climbed in rank faster than most
to reach sergeant; lead and taught those
drawn to you like apostles.
On top of the TV we keep the photo of you in
helmet and flack jacket with Iraqi children.
You believed them worth the fight.
You mourned their poverty.
Once defiant, later than most, you followed
steps of your father now accepting with
bitter-sweet pride your folded flag,
Cavalry Stetson, silver saber, and bootless spurs.
The Purple Heart, Bronze, and Silver Stars carry
the message we want the world to know about You.
We have been reminded, your dad and I, that
God’s son began his service at age thirty and at thirty-three
sacrificed himself for human kind.
What coincidence…
In our search we know you dwell in sixty-foot
waves from the North Shore to Australia,
the rain and breeze against the lighthouse chimes.
And outside the family room on a branch of the great oak
you dwell in the noble
heart of the hawk
watching through the window our gradual steps
moving beyond the chaplain’s footprints,
his knuckle prints branded against the door.

If it's a fight you want....

Ok, I read this and was outraged. You all should be too. I've included comments and bold on points in Ms. Lozano's little rant against our nation. It's so funny how the focus is on brown people…I'm not a racist and as far as I can see we've come a long way as a nation as far as Latinos and Blacks rights and freedoms. The idea that criminals…read: illegal aliens. Or as Ms. Lozano puts it "the undocumented" should enjoy the rights of an American citizen is ludicrous. The reason for this is that they are striving to turn this country into a "New Mexico" for lack of a better term.
They've outright said they are going to breed us out and that they want to take over the country. OK, what the hell people? And we just sit here and let it happen. If you're being discriminated against, why is it you can say anything you want about whites in this country and never get charged with discrimination or hate crimes? Maybe it's because we don't give it much credence. That comes from individualism folks. Names are just names, but we're so concerned about offending others we cater to their demands to be "respected". I get referred to as a "cracker" or a "gringo"...and you know what? I don't give a damn. They're just words. But maybe I should. Maybe we all should start screaming racism whenever we get referred to in generalizations based on color. Make a point to all those yahoos out there always trying to pull the "race" card. I'm sick of it.

To be fair, I will say I understand why the impoverished from Latin America would want to come here where they have the chance to better themselves and their families. I know some of the stories and to be honest, if I got approached by an illegal in need of water I'd give them some as I was calling Border Patrol. The answer to the plight of the poor folks of Mexico and Central America is not to make the US a Latin Country. Maybe if they tried to get some sort of help from the human rights folks and our Liberal leftist socialist people in this country, We'd actually get involved and help to bring about economic reform in those countries…oh wait, you got the Ortega's and the Noriega's and the Chavez's down there making things difficult. Yeah, blame the US for your f**kin' nightmare you f**kin' Hypocrites.

Read and respond. The link to this speech is at the bottom.
And Thanks to Redneck Texan for drawing my attention to this issue.

UNIFY AND FOCUS OUR MOVEMENT NOW !Emma Lozano, presidente Pueblo sin Fronteras Elvira Arellano, presidente La Familia Latina Unida
Most of us gathered here are united on the positions we believe in, but we are not united, and we are not disciplined, on the point of struggle, the message we want to deliver to our people and to the nation.
There is a difference when the front page pictures after our large marches are of 25 male leaders, all with their papers, of different small organizations, with a banner that proclaims the leadership of their coalition and when the front page picture is a line of families with children with a banner that demands not one family separated, not one child left behind, stop the raids, deportations and separation of families now. There is a difference when the news accounts report on smaller turn-outs in divided marches and when the news accounts report on the unity of all sectors of our community in massive turn outs. The difference is between victory and defeat. Over the last fifteen years, Sin Fronteras has worked to develop two different coalitions: the popular coalition and the legislative coalition. We believed that the popular coalition, which mobilized the undocumented and the Latino community, was necessary to bring the legislative coalition to take and win the maximum gain in this current battle over reform of the law. We also recognized that the struggle does not stop with the passage of a new law, as the Black Liberation struggle did not stop with the passage of the civil rights act, but that the legislative coalition was necessary because our people wanted and needed immediate relief from the attack on their dignity and standard of living.

Let's see, the black were not here illegally. How is this even the same
thing?

The popular coalition has made great gains. We have shown that we are not only for protecting the rights of the undocumented but we are struggling for Latinos to become a voice for justice for all of Latin America. We have supported self-determination and opposed assimilation into this nation’s individualistic, imperialistic values. We have taught that our people did not come here because of the American Dream but because of what the American nightmare did to our countries of origin. We have asserted that our demand to be here and to be fully enfranchised here is a right not a privilige and a destiny of our people to transform this nation.
Self-determination and opposed assimilation? Sounds like an invasion
to me. Individualistic and Imperialist? Ummm…so changing the
nation into one that is of your own devising while actively infiltrating
us is not imperialistic? Puhleeeez….
Asserted YOUR demand that you have a RIGHT to be here and it's
your DESTINY to transform this nation. That is subversive talk and
tantamount to treason.
And…how is the US responsible for the nightmare that has befallen your countries of origin?

Some references might be good to back up this claim.

Our popular coalition made the legislative coalition we helped to build successful. We created unity with the Latino citizen community and mobilized that unity in massive unity and made immigration a Latino issue which made the Latino vote our most powerful weapon.
Our popular coalition created unity between the Latino and African American community that the legislative, self-interest coalition could not have done.
Our popular coalition brought the militancy of resistance and sanctuary in the faith community and forced the religious community to come forward in the legislative struggle.
Most important, our popular coalition has brought the issue of family unity to the forefront of legislative struggle which has become the main point of struggle in the current and final phase of the legislative fight.
We did all this in spite of our divisions and individualism and disrespect which ran counter to the unity and love of our people, a unity and love that saved our leadership from self-destruction.
What is our current legislative reality? It is clear that we have only three alternatives.
The first alternative is that no law passes by August. This means we will have three years of raids and deportations and separations of families. We will have three years of no-match firings that will affect millions of our people because of the new system of social security verification and sanctions already in place. We will have three years of militarization of the border and unchecked right wing vigilante and local law enforcement violence against our people. Our people do not want this alternative. We should not be willing to accept this alternative for them.
The second alternative is the White House Senate Republican Alternative which will surface in the next two weeks. It accepts a slow legalization (8 + 5) for individual workers but rejects family unity legalization and family reunification. It promotes a beefed up guest worker program but denies legal rights to the workers and denies the right to have their families with them. It is an apartheid anti-family system of temporary labor.. We must struggle against this alternative because our people do not want it. It attacks their rights, their humanity, their dignity and the empowerment of Latinos to change this nation for those who are in it and for the benefit of our people throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. It also militarizes our borders and criminalizes the millions who will not be legalized.
The third alternative is the compromise worked out between the democrats who support us and the White house before the white house broke the deal. It includes a guest worker program, which has the support of the majority of the Congress. It includes criminalization of those left here without papers after legalization. It includes militarization of the border – which is already approved by Congress and has the support of two thirds of the Congress. It is wrapped in the rhetoric of assimilation and places blame on the undocumented and takes no responsibility for the racist, exploitative system of undocumented labor this nation has run for its own benefit or the terrible damage this nation has done to the peoples of the south.

So it's our fault that you come here to escape the poverty and corruption of your own governments and then try and make this nation into your own? And this is somehow our fault? Yeah, right…

The third alternative also will legalize almost all of undocumented and their families and provide for the security, dignity and empowerment of millions of our people so that we can continue the struggle in the years to come.
These are our three legislative alternatives. We have developed peoples legislation in the past and even got it introduced into congress. That time is over. The struggle for those principles is not over, it has just begun. But now we have only these three alternatives to choose from. What the people want and need in the next three months is clear. Our popular coalition must unify, put aside individual agendas and deliver the legislative, narrow self-interest coalition we have caused to be built and made effective for our people.
What are the points of struggle we must unify around:

FAMILY UNITY: This is the main difference between the democratic and republican alternatives. It is also the main weakness of the republicans with their own base. It separates the religious right from the racist right. The republican base is for family values but is divided as to whether this includes family values for brown families.
Yeah, sure…whatever. This is OUR America and if you want to take advantage of the opportunities here then you need to accept this is OUR country and abide by OUR laws. If your life sucked so bad before, go back and fix your own damn country…and if you really gave a damn about your country of origin and it's values, then do something about it…oh, I forgot, the US is the only place you can do it without the possibility of being exterminated by your fellow countrymen that like things the way they are. If people would actively stand up and fight the "man" in their own countries, I'm sure there would be plenty of sympathy and help from the DEFENDERS OF THE FREE WORLD!

They say with Justice Kennedy that “respect for live requires the nation to respect and protect the bond of love between a mother and her child, but demand the separation of Elvira and Saul Arellano. They oppose divorce and abortion but demand the separation of millions of brown families and the abandonment of millions of brown childrenThe democrats compromise too far on family unity and family reunification. We want the inclusion of the Serrano bill. We want families not to be excluded because of previous charges that relate only to unauthorized entry or work.. Our demand is simple: not one family separated, not one child left behind. Our message of attack is simple: the republicans are anti-family and their proposed system of labor is racist. Our lever of power is simple: Latinos will not vote for republicans. – or democrats that do not vote with us. We will vote against all republicans and will run independent candidates against democrats who oppose us.

GUEST WORKER PROGRAM
The guest worker program is a reality we must face if we are to ahieve legalization. We must whittle it down this year and eliminate it in years to come.
We must join with the African American community in demanding that employers seek new hires from the massive ex-offender populaton before they can authorize guest workers.
We must demand the right of family unity for guest workers and a path to citizenship.
CIVIL RIGHTS, CRIMINALIZATION AND MILITARIZATION OF THE BORDER. We can weaken some of the provisions in the Flake-Gutierrez compromise in the House Judiciary committee. This is already going to happen because of the make-up of the judiciary committee. Then it will be up to the house/senate conference committee to negotiate it. What we must understand is that the administration already has the power to do these things and has the support of the Congress to do these things. We cannot stop them in the next three months, but we can build a struggle among the people by organizing our resistance over the next three years.
THE FOCUS OF OUR STRUGGLE IS THE DIGNITY AND UNITY OF THE FAMILY, TO EXPOSE THE REPUBLICANS IN THEIR OWN CONTRADICTIONS AND TO PUT BACKBONE INTO THE DEMOCRATS. WE SHOULD THROW OUR WEIGHT AND THE WEIGHT OF THE LATINO VOTE BEHIND THE STRIVE ACT FROM THIS PERSPECTIVE.
AND WE SHOULD COMMIT HERE TO CONTINUE THE STRUGGLE FROM THE GRASSROOTS UNTIL WE ACHIEVE FINAL VICTORY
!

Read: Uprising…

WW SHOULD PREPARE TO MARCH ON WASHINGTON IN JUNE IN RESPONSE TO THE BILL THAT PASSES THE SENATE SO THAT THE HOUSE RESPONSE IS STRONG AND THE HOUSE IS STRENGTHENED IN THE CONFERENCE NEGOTIATION.
We had the most successful march in the nation in Chicago on May Day. It was difficult to achieve unity. The legislative coalition – the unions, the Catholic hierarchy, the funded organizations – they did not oppose us but they did not mobilize. We did it from the grassroots. We had differences of opinion and differences of personalities and differences of political agendas. Some people think that fighting for their position of leadership is more important than fighting for our people. Some people think it is more important to let small white led leftist organizations confuse our message than it is to let the undocumented speak for themselves and to bring our Latino Elected officials into our popular coalition in spite of the fac that some of our brothers want to use the struggle for the own political ambitions.
But we persevered because the people made us persevere. We had the unity the people demanded: Stop the Raids, Deportations and Separation of Families; Not One Family Separated, Not One Child Left Behind,; Legalization para Todos!
The people we serve have only three alternatives. We must fight for the best of these three for the next three months. “No Bill” is unacceptable to our people and unproductive for our struggle. The Republican Bill is an attack on our families and our people’s future. We must throw our full unified weight behind the third alternative and try to make it better. Those who cannot must be disciplined and confine themselves to attacking only ther first two alternatives: “No Bill” and “Republican anti-family Bill”
And we must be committed to continue the struggle after the bill is passed.
And we must restore the love and faith and unity of our people to the leaders who are here gathered.
This is the position of Pueblo Sin Fronteras/La Familia Latina Unida.
This is the position of Elvira Arellano whose faith and defiance and and humility and commitment to the people inspire has inspired all of us to serve our people and not use our people.

"A conservative is a liberal who has been mugged by reality."

I followed up on this after seeing it referenced at "infidels are cool" blog site.

As the cliché goes, "A conservative is a liberal who has been mugged by reality." Like most clichés, this one exposes a larger truth. Namely, people often base their views on their fantasies of how the world should be, rather than on the reality of how the world actually is.

Caroline Glick really writes some great stuff. The article is thought-provoking and well articulated.

Personally, I think she's right.
Let me know what y'all think.

Some interesting news

Grr...I had an issue trying to post this once. Let's see if it works this time...

This article is from the upcoming issue of Newsweek. I was surprised to see it being published there honestly. Wonders never cease...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20430170/site/newsweek/page/0/

So, this is an intersting article and you may note that several people are cited as sources from many different areas. I'm not sure who Evan Thomas is, but he's definitely done his homework. I am going to look into this guy soon and I'll give you my impression in a later post.

I welcome any feedback about this article. I'd like to hear what some of you think about this situation.

Thanks for reading.

World of Warcraft...

Most of you probably have no clue what I'm talking about unless you play the game.
I have a draenei hunter that just became exalted with Darnassus (Night Elves) which means I can purchase a riding cat when I hit level 40..woohoo!

I went to the range this morning...

And I got to try out my new rifle. I didn't have to touch the sights at all...Battlesight zero was dead on. So....I had a good time. I blew off about 180 rounds. Yeah....It was awesome.
The range was pretty busy this morning. There was a guy there with a wide assortment of firearms.
He had a Thompson SMG, an Uzi, an AK, an M4 similar to mine, but with an aftermarket socom stock and an 11.5" barrel and a red-dot site. He was kind enough to let me try it out and I have to say the site was awesome. my eyes are getting tired from the old iron sights...LOL.
But a good time was had by all.
Anywho, that's the report. I have every confidence in my rifle...it's just the operator headspace that needs some work...hahahaha.
Have a great day!

Brotherhood

What does brotherhood mean?
I have alot of people in my life that I consider my brother. How did this come to be?
I’ve spent alot of time thinking about this and it has to do with a bond that transcends friendship.
Some of my “brothers” are family and many of them aren’t. I have a couple of stepbrothers that I don’t really know all that well. I don’t think of them as brothers in the sense of “brotherhood”, yet they are also my brothers.
I just got off the phone with my cousin. My cousin has been my “brother” for so many years now I don’t even really remember exactly when that bond formed. We spoke about self-realization and what it means to make certain choices in our lives and how they affect us. That is the sort of thing that makes he and I brothers.

I have a really good friend in New Jersey that is also like a brother to me. He is part of that bond of brotherhood as well. We don’t see each other often but that bond is there nevertheless. I have friends I’ve met in the Army and some I’ve met in the civilian sector as well that I consider my “brothers”. I’ve even met some people online through the blogosphere or on MySpace. These are my brothers in spirit as well.

I think that brotherhood has alot to do with honor. It has to do with understanding and loyalty.
Woud you take a bullet for them? I know I would. Without hesitation.

This is a subject I plan on returning to probably several times. I haven't nailed it all down yet myself. If you’ve got any insights, feel free to share them.

Have a great day and may you die with your boots on....

Die with your boots on part 2

Ok folks. I don't know where the original phrase of "Die with your boots on" came from, but the first time I heard it was as a teenager listening to Iron Maiden. I have a video link that appears at the top of my Blog that is in direct reference to "Die with your boots on". So If you're into Iron Maiden feel free to let it play. If not jusy click the little link saying I'm done watching this and you won't be bothered with it.
For your enlightenment, I am posting the lyrics to the song by Iron Maiden so you know where I'm coming from.

"Die With Your Boots On"
by Iron Maiden

Another Prophet of Disaster
Who says the ship is lost,
Another Prophet of Disaster
Leaving you to count the cost.
Taunting us with Visions,
Afflicting us with fear,
Predicting War for millions,
In the hope that one appears.

No point asking when it is,
No point asking who's to go,
No point asking what's the game,
No point asking who's to blame.
'cos if you're gonna die, if you're gonna die,
'cos if you're gonna die, if you're gonna die,

If you're gonna die, die with your boots on.
If you're gonna try, just stick around,
Gonna cry, just move along,
If you're gonna die, you're gonna die.

In 13 the Beast is rising,
The Frenchman did surmise,
Through earthquakes and starvation,
The warlord will arise.

Terror, Death, Destruction,
Pour from the Eastern Sands,
But the truth of all predictions,
Is always in your hands.

If you're gonna die, die with your boots on,
If you're gonna try, just stick around,
Gonna cry, just move along,
If you're gonna die, you're gonna die.

There it is folks. If someone knows the origin of this saying and wishes to enlighten the rest of us, feel free to leave a comment with a reference. If not, I may find it on my own and post again later on.
In the mean time....Enjoy!

Scouts Out! (And Die with your boots on!)

Die with your boots on.

Well, I've been reading quite a bit about the UN and teh SPP here in North America. The EU and how we're headed towards a globalized government and our nations will no longer be sovereign nations...well, for the record I have to say...this is basically enslavement. Yeah. They're gonna reduce us to completely subservient people. No pride in our culture or heritage. Fluid borders that really are no longer borders. And of course built on the backs of the average working class citizen. yep.

The problem, folks isn't the EU or the SPP or even the UN. The problem is US, "we the people". We have allowed this to happen to ourselves. What do we do about it? Not much so far since most of us don't have the time to devote to digging beneath the veneer of lies fed to us by the MSM. Why is that? Because we have jobs and we have domestic responsibilities that in this day and age constitute survival. At least for those of us left that have some semblance of pride and a work ethic. We provide the unemployed and the illegal imigrant with health care and services that we have to pay for ourselves. Yep. Don't spin this the wrong way though. If we had people willing to work for lesser wages...yep I said it willing to do what is necessary to survive...namely get their ass of the couch and get a job, however menial it might be, instead of living off the system, maybe we wouldn't have quite the problem with illegals. maybe we would, I'm not an expert and will never claim to be. But the problems we face are of our own making. The Media plays a large part into this...actually it is probably the biggest enemy of the people in my opinion. They bombard us with news coverage of Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole Smith and other trivial BS. If you're lucky you'll get a passing comment about the important issues and even then they're spun in such a way as to deceive you into believing whatever they want you to believe. yep.
I had a discussion about this this morning with a co-worker of mine. And he pointed out several things to me that although I really already knew, I hadn't scrutinized enough. The main thing being the way the media distracts us from the Liberal NWO agenda they have. Another point is this; I generally avoid the leftist media because they piss me off so bad I don't want to even listen to their drivel.
Yet I should be.
As a concerned defender of freedom, I should be paying attention to the "enemy". Not just the enemies at the gates, but the enemy from within. Our whole problem in the west has been one of ignorance. We focus on the things we want to hear or see and what we need to do is pay closer attention to what our enemies are saying and actually work to bebunk the BS.
When I was a young and idealistic fool back in the ol' college days. I was a proponent of peace and all that, but I would never devalue the lives of those that went before me to defend our country and our way of life. I believe that if you want to protest declaring war...sure go for it. But once we, as a country do declare it, we should support our leaders and the servicemembers who sacrifice so much on our behalf. Anything less is treason. Just my 2 cents there. I bet you're wondering where this tangency is leading...
Well, I used to be a more left leaning individual as are many wannabe artists and intellectuals. But I was brought up a bit different from alot of the people I met in college. First of all I am and always will be a "country boy" at heart. I have a bit of redneck in me that try as might to suppress it...I really can't. And through being a soldier and travelling to foreign nations and meeting and interacting with other peoples besides the pseudo-intellectuals I met in college, I came to see the world in a different light.
A more practical, realistic view of the world.
As a result, I have continued to lean further and further to the right politically as as I grow older. For one, I actually look at what happens rather than allow one reporter or journalists views as the absolute truth on any matter. There is alot of truth to the saying, "You can't believe everything you read."
People need a cause. People need something to believe in. All of us do. Sometimes it's as simple as doing all you can for your family. Or for some foks it's staying true to a set of beliefs like Christianity or Islam. To some it is loyalty to their political party, whether it's right or wrong. Everyone needs something to "believe" in. Where I'm going with this is that to think of our society and culture as being intolerant and subject to change to fit the global view is being intolerant of what we, the proletariat really want.
We, the workers, the breadwinners.
I love my country and what it stands for. Period. I don't give a damn where immigrants come from, but DO NOT expect me to speak another language while in my AO. This is my turf and they are the guest. If they want to join us, great. That's what we're all about, but it's not about me changing my ways to fit theirs. If their ways were so much better, they should have stayed put instead of coming here. America is about the freedom of all. But we also have a heritage and a culture all our own. They want to come here and take advantage of our freedom and then do all they can to make America Mexico or the middle east or wherever these folks come from.
When do we say "Enough is enough!?" Wake up America, you're on your way to serfdom. Stop walking around pretending you have a pair, act like it. Show the powers that be that "We the people" are a force to be reckoned with. That we won't bow down to this.
I for one will die with my boots on. I hope you all choose to do the same.

2nd Amendment

2nd Amendment of the US Constitution states

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

There's alot of folks that try to interpret this to further their own agendas.
As Lawdog puts it they're a bunch of Liars.
http://thelawdogfiles.blogspot.com/2007/04/we-license-cars-yackyackyack.html

I have alot of respect for the former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani. But on this issue alone...No way on God's green earth would I ever vote for him.
http://www.nyc.gov/html/rwg/html/97a/me970302.html

I don't see how there can be any interpretation of the 2nd amendment...it seems pretty clear and straightforward to me...

New Guidelines for Saluting the Flag

Here's a little FYI for you prior service US Military and currently serving as well...

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla..) today praised the passage by unanimous consent of his bill (S.1877) clarifying U.S. law to allow veterans and servicemen not in uniform to salute the flag. Current law (US Code Title 4, Chapter 1) states that veterans and servicemen not in uniform should place their hand over their heart without clarifying whether they can or should salute the flag.

"The salute is a form of honor and respect, representing pride in one's military service," Senator Inhofe said. "Veterans and service members continue representing the military services even when not in uniform. "Unfortunately, current U.S. law leaves confusion as to whether veterans and service members out of uniform can or should salute the flag. My legislation will clarify this regulation, allowing veterans and servicemen alike to salute the flag, whether they are in uniform or not. "I look forward to seeing those who have served saluting proudly at baseball games, parades, and formal events. I believe this is an appropriate way to honor and recognize the 25 million veterans in the United States who have served in the military and remain as role models to others citizens. Those who are currently serving or have served in the military have earned this right, and their recognition will be an inspiration to others."

This Bill was passed July 25, 2007. Let your veteran friends know about the Passage of this Bill.

Long may she wave...

Fiddler's Green

I haven't really found my muse yet...I have a hard time putting something down in writing until I am sure of how I feel about it. I spend alot of time reading various blogs...and books. And I comment only occasionally on the blogs because I can't bring myself to voice an uninformed opinion. Maybe it's just my silly pride...I don't know. But I feel that before I go shouting my displeasure or voicing support for a postion, I ought to know what in the hell I'm talking about.

This entry is actually about a poem that among U.S. Cavalry troopers is a part of our history and heritage. The author is unknown.

FIDDLER'S GREEN

Halfway down the trail to Hell in a shady meadow green
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped near a good old time canteen
and this eternal resting place is known as Fiddler's Green

Marching past straight through to Hell the Infantry are seen
Accompanied by the Engineers, Artillery and Marine
For none but the shades of Cavalrymen dismount at Fiddler's Green

Though some go curving down the trail to seek a warmer scene
No Cavalryman ever gets to Hell ere he's emptied his canteen
And so rides back to drink again with friends at Fiddler's Green

And so when man and horse go down beneath a sabre keen
Or in a roaring charge of fierce melee you stop a bullet clean
And the hostiles come to get you scalp just empty your canteen
And put your pistol to your head
And go to Fiddler's Green

I spent little more than 3 years as a Cavalry Trooper. They were, bar none, the happiest most rewarding years of my life.
I truly believe that being a trooper is a state of mind. It defined me. I was a Trooper and very proud of it. I pushed myself harder and accomplished more than I ever had before. I'm not going to go into the circumstances surrounding my transferring into the signal corps...
In a nutshell, I suddenly realized I had a family and putting myself behind enemy lines wasn't exactly a good way to support a family. The irony is, of course, that I no longer have a family...well I am not married and I have no kids. My ex-wife and I never got that far.

I've been out of the Army for 4 years now and I've worked a variety of less than pleasant jobs prior to getting my foot in the door at the local Fort. I have been here about a year and a half now and I'm glad to be serving albeit in a different role. I worked for a couple of years as a bouncer and a Bartender at a local bar here and since we're close to post, I saw alot of soldiers come through the doors. I've even met quite a few guys that did some time in the Cav. And, as a trooper myself, I always ask them the same thing.
"Can you recite Fiddler's Green?"
None of them could except one guy knew a verse and some change....
Seems to me things are changing for the Cav, the Army has been trying to do away with the proud cav tradition for quite some time. When you look at how they changed the Army headgear to the Black Beret...so everyone would feel special...sickening.
Although I miss being a Scout Trooper, I am glad I left the service when I did, while I still had pride in myself and my unit and my Army.

I was/am proud of having served as a trooper. I hear all the time people saying "Once a Marine, Always a Marine" I believe the same holds true for the Cav. I will always be a trooper in my heart.

New Rifle

Well folks, I finally did it....
I've been wanting to buy an AR style rifle for many, many years.
Today I ordered one.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
It is the M4 A3 style with a collapsible stock and removable carry handle. So if I want to add optics to it later, I can.
I got a pretty good deal on it and I am so excited to try it out. Maybe this weekend...I'm going to have to zero it eventually...hahaha.
Anywho, that's it for now
Cheers!

Well, I got my rifle today and I got a picture of me holding it instead of the stock photo from the website...I'm a very happy camper =)

Way to go Danes!

I'm reposting this from Yorkshireminer's blog. I think for those of us that value our western culture and the freedoms associated with it, we should show some support to these brave folks.

S.I.A.D. (STOP THE ISLAMISATION OF DENMARK PARTY) have now started to collect money to start a court case again those parts of the koran that contravene the Danish Constitution.

This is what they have to say on the English part of there Blogg

The Minster of Justice is breaking the Constitution of the Kingdom ofDenmark Act. (the Danish constitution). We shall now take legal action.
We have now started a collection of money in the whole world in order to take legal action against passages of the Koran, i.e. passages which are contrary to the Danish constitution and the Danish Penal Code.
Having received a refusal of our claim from the Ministry of Justice and having noted that the case worker acted on complete ignorance, as she had not even read the Koran and as she did not know the meaning of the word “hadith”, SIAD forwarded a second claim.
But again we received a short reply from some Jens-Christian Bülow from the Ministry of Justice with the following wording:
By e-mail of March 27, 2007 you have again addressed the Ministry of Justice in order to have passages of the Koran prohibited in Denmark.
The Ministry of Justice refers to an earlier reply of March 7, 2007. Yours faithfully, Jens-Christian Bülow.
Again we see a total negligence of our arguments which are based on the very clearly stated sections of the Danish constitution. We have now opened a bank account where money received on this account will be ear-marked for the trial.
Bank account number: 9860 8890006451
Swift. FIONDK 22
IBAN: D78 9860 8890006451
S.I.A.D. Was started by group of ordinary Danes who had had enough with all the shit that was heaped on them over the Cartoon crisis and decided to fight. They are still a small organization. They do not hid behind Aliases the way we do here Anders Gravers real name is Anders Gravers, his photo is to be seen on the Blogg. They are starting a counter crusade to defend there land. Denmark has a population approximately half the size of New York. The Muslim hoards went for them because they thought that they were an easy victim, how wrong they were now the victim is hitting back. Denmark has fallen once again below the worlds political radar and very little that comes out of Denmark makes news. Did you know that of the two Muslim clerics that started the crisis one is dead and the other one left Denmark complaining bitterly how misunderstood he was by the Danes. No the Danes didn't misunderstand him, he misunderstood the Danes. I know the Danes, and I can assure you if this Crisis had happened 1,000 years ago it would have been over in a few days. Unfortunately it cannot be solved in the good old Viking way. S.I.A.D. Works within in the law and are committed to observing the rule of law only they don't fudge the issue in there case it is Danish Law not Sharia law. They are going for the Islamic Jugular, they see it as a win win situation. If they win muslims in Denmark would have to reassess there attitude to religion and state. It might even give our political Dimmis a bit more Backbone when they realize that if little Denmark can stop Islam in its track perhaps we can do the same. If they lose they also win as this case will get lots of coverage in the media and the pissed off Danes will get a very effective lesson in what is in store for them if islam gets its way. They deserve our support so if you have the odd dollar or Euro to spare after paying the exorbitant petrol prices to pay for the jihad please send it. They will need a lot of money, we all know how greedy lawyers are. If you have a Blogg please post this comment on your Blogg we must spread the word as wide as possible . It would be also very nice if Robert or Hugh would write an article here on Jihad Watch or Dimmi Watch. I will include the E-mail address of S.I.A.D. At the end of this post plus and the links to there blogg both the English section and the Danish section to show that this is not a Con trick. Enjoy the English section they do not mince their words and don't forget to leave a comment. If you can't send them money then please send a message of support they are a small number of Danes who have stuck their neck out to defend us all, they have no police protection. Remember if Europe goes America is in the front line. I am not saying that you are not already, but the Danes are one of your most faithful Allies, they are fighting now side by side with American Soldier in Iraqi and Afghanistan and like you, their sons are also dieing.
